The Transformers Rare Pairing Community

So, it's been a while. My last post here was in 2021 and between then and now I've posts 10 things, most of which were old fics that I either never finished or that needed to be polished. I kind of got into my own head between the pandemic, the return to normal life, and the return to the office part time then (mostly) full-time. My creativity dried up, my doubts increased massively, and I kind of became obsessed with this one idea that not only wouldn't leave me alone, but it also wouldn't let me write it.

Lately though, I've started to find things coming back. The juices are starting to flow again and I'm actually getting things written. Nothing is yet ready to post, but that's okay. The point is, I'm actually writing something new instead of rewriting the same thing over and over again.

So, I am currently working on:

Untitled Body Swap - Smokescreen and Ratchet are in an accident and swap bodies. It doesn't go well. This one is still in progress, because it was supposed to be a simple little pr0nzy fic that turned into drama. Lots of drama. It's coming along nicely though. Originally it was entirely from Ratchet's POV, but I've now realized I need Smokescreen's POV as well. It'll probably be two or three chapters total because it's getting long. It's dealing with what basically amounts to body dismorphia, unfamiliar processes and equipment, addiction, and some rather bad psychology (let's face it, Smokey isn't really a shrink). I'm also exploring some of the friendships among the Autobots. So, yeah, what was supposed to be a short little thing, no longer is.

Untitled Smokecreen and Red Alert fic - I am absolutely adoring these two as friends. I've also made Red Alert some kind of Ace in my headcanon but I've also paired him with Prowl, so this is dealing with Red Alert dealing with feelings he never thought he was capable of having. And again, bad psychology, because while Smokey is vey good at what he does, he's not a proper shrink. This one is done, I'm just not ready to post it yet.

Gaming the System - This is the first part of a planned trilogy dealing with Smokescreen's past in my headcanon. He was created in Praxus, a city that is fully Functionist. Those who don't follow the rules and don't think and act like they should go missing in the night and are either reprogrammed or smelted down for parts. In my headcanon, Smokescreen is not only an unconventional thinker, but he's also an Outlier (something the Praxian Council claims does not exist among Praxians). This will be a story of his youth, his discovery about the truth of Praxus' history with eugenics, and his eventually departure from the city-state. This fic is the reason I had to stop writing "You Remind Me of Someone I Used to Know". I came to the realization that I needed to flesh out the backstory before I finish that story. It's coming together. The issue I'm having is that it's entirely written from Smokescreen's POV and there are a could of scenes that I need to rewrite in order to keep it that way. But I've already written the scenes and I like them the way they are. So it's a bit of a fight.

Bleeding Daylight - This is a standalone fic that deals with Smokescreen and Swindle being bonded and what happened to them after the Batties were incarcerated and after the characters wake up on Earth. I am loving this story, but I'm stalled at the end. I need to kill off some major characters and I don't want to. But, I relize I can't always have a happy ending.

Being Human - This is my white whale. I have been working on this for years. It's set in a different reality of the MCU and kind of combines the MCU with the Bayverse movies. The problem is, I came up with the idea well before Infinity War and End Game, and those two movies completely derail my idea. I'm making it work by having the new reality come into being after the Battle of New York, so I can pretty much ignore everything that happens afterwards. Then problem number two is as I was writing this, I ended up taking a bit of a hard left and mostly abandoned the plot of the first Bayvese movie and went in a different direction - bringing in a Functionist reality, bringing in the Guiding Hand, hinting at Unicron - and then I started to write a backstory to this reality involving Megatron and Orion working together against Sentinel Prime and Lord High Protector Shockwave, the discovery of the true Matrix, Orion's reformatting, and Megatron's decent into madness due to manipulations from outside. It turned into a whole thing, and now I have two fics where I only had one, I have relationships I never planned on dealing with, and characters who weren't in the original Bayverse movie. And that's not even including the MCU characters.
